Chapel
Hill Story
Chapel
Hill Resort started in the late 1920's, by Al Geherman and his wife
Anne who lived near Chicago. Apparently the name Chapel Hill was
taken from a country club in McHenry Illinois. The resort was later
sold to Fred & Bea Eggar. The Eggars were the people who
developed the resort to its fullest. They loved northern Minnesota
and the Chippewa forest, which Chapel Hill Resort resides in. They
believed people from the cities who would travel up north for their
resort vacation, deserved fine cabin lodging, good fishing, sand
swimming beaches, quiet enough to hear the loons at night and plenty
of recreation opportunities during the day.
Ron
& Jacque Danielson purchased Chapel Hill Resort in 2005 . They
believe that the Grand Rapids region, of the state of Minnesota,
offers their customers a choice of activities, and for shoppers a
friendly business climate. They have fully remodeled the cabins.
Unlike other resorts who have 8-10 cabins, there are only three
cabins, on 23 acres. The cabins have beautiful views of the lake. The
boat slips were put in for the guests peace of mind. The swimming
area is sand and has a very gentle drop, one can walk out in the
lake, about 150' to 200' and still be only to one's waist deep. Swim
raft allows for jumping and deeper water level. We are off the road
1200' in the forest, next to Sand Lake. The view of the Sand Lake is
beautiful. The hummingbirds come every year to nest, and are a show
in themselves. We have eagles also on Sand Lake. It is their hope
that each person can enjoy some of the nature which surrounds us. See
you all soon at Chapel Hill Resort.
